Financial Benefits:
Schmidt Science Fellows participating in the program will receive a stipend of $100,000 and will be supported by the program to undertake a full-time, postdoctoral study for at least one year in a world-leading laboratory. This study must be in a field different from their existing area of expertise. Fellows also spend five weeks during their Fellowship year at four residential meetings around the globe where they receive bespoke training to help them become the next generation of science leaders.

Eligibility Criteria:
Eligibility requirements for the University of British Columbia Fellowships 2024 in Canada are outlined below:
- Eligibility:
- Candidates must be Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents, or International students.
- Applicants must possess a graduate degree in Computing, Engineering, or Natural Sciences (including Earth Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Biology, and Neurobiology).
- Completion of a PhD is required. The PhD must have been completed or be expected to be completed between June 1st, 2023 and July 30th, 2024. The PhD must have been earned from the University of British Columbia (UBC).
- Candidates must be available for the entire period from July 2024 to September 2025, including attendance at the Global Meeting.

The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies will establish a committee to evaluate nominations received from departments. This committee will then select up to nine students to participate in the international competition.
